A green, or earth-friendly, funeral and burial involves, most importantly, the proper preparation of the body.  This must be done without the use of any preservatives, especially embalming fluids.  A biodegradable casket made from natural materials, like wood or wicker, will be used, and finally, the body will be buried in a cemetery that allows either no vault or a vault without a bottom.  If all is done in this manner, the process of natural deterioration will begin immediately.  With trees, shrubs and flowers planted nearby, the body, with time, becomes part of the green environment. 

We keep in stock a wide variety of beautiful solid wood caskets—no plastic or metal hardware-- that are fully biodegradable.

Cremation is already a green practice: no embalming, no casket, no vault. However, since traditional urns do not degrade naturally, we offer a selection of lovely biodegradable urns, which are designed to either break down easily back into the earth or dissolve in water.
